API Now Live

It’s now been four days since we launched our February StatusCake customer survey and we hope you’ve started to see some of the great changes as a direct result of your feedback.

You may remember the question “What do you want us to work on next”?  The response so far has been overwhelmingly “API / API Documentation”.  So having taken some time to address any performance based concerns and launch our premium email delivery it was time to dive into the API.

Today we’re happy to announce the first version of our API. If you’ve visited the StatusCake Forum you may have seen some odd bits and bobs of the API but there was nothing concrete about it’s implementation – it was in a constant state of flux. Now we have announced the first version of the API you can be sure we will be supporting the current implementation for years to come and you can start building applications on top of your StatusCake account.

The API returns json data which can be used in the vast majority of languages and libraries but if there is another language you would like us to support, then please do get in touch. We will be expanding the API offering over time and from now on when we add a new feature we will also be adding a corresponding API for it.

We are not just putting the API out there and then sitting on our hands.  If you have any questions or need some guidance with how to do something then please do contact us – the API is part of our website monitoring service and our support is just as much for the API as it is anything else. We hope to build libraries to support some key languages soon but in the meantime if you have any libraries / code to submit then we’d love to hear and promote them.
